5 BOLLYWOOD MOVIES WITH AMAZING COSTUMES

That cinema has always been a reference of the fashion world is a fact, Hollywood goes hand in hand with the trends of the fashion world, but if we want to talk about movies with costumes which are rich in color and detail - to inspire anyone - Bollywood wins the turn!

The Hindi-language film industry is among the top five film producers and consumers in the world. The films involve lots of dance, special effects, productions of all genres and, of course, is a window into Indian culture. Indian costumes attract attention by always bringing bright colors, shades of gold and many jewels and props. Moreover, they have been influencing through the decades the way of dressing of its spectators.

 

We selected five films with amazing costumes for you to be dying to watch. Check it out!

Bollywood movie Bajrao Mastani and its costumes

 The film released in 2015 is based on a Marathi novel, Raau, written by Nagnath S. Inamdar and tells the story of the novel between Indian general Peshwa Bajirao and his second wife Mastani. Bajirao Mastani has won many awards, including best choreography categories, best photography, best art direction, best supporting actress and best actor. And, of course, the costume is very rich in details, colors and elegance, the makeup is inspiring and all the artists carry ornaments that will leave you drooling.

 The science fiction film directed by Shekhar Kapur was released in 1987 and tells the story of an orphan, Arun Verma, who devotes his adult life to caring for orphaned children in a home where he does not have the resources to pay for the expenses, and decides to put one of the rooms for rent. The new tenant is a journalist, Seema Sohni (Sridevi), who does not like children. However, Magambo, the lord of crime, has great interest in storing guns and contraband on the spot and the saga of Arun to save the children from the attacks of the cruel lord of crime begins. The boy finds a way to fight the men of Magambo by means of a device that makes him invisible and is called "Mr. India".

 Sridevi, who plays Seema in the feature film, made presence by bringing iconic costumes with a lot of color, brilliance and leaving aside the modest form of how women were seen, becoming the most desirable woman of her time.

 

 Bollywood movie Khoon Bhari Maang and its costumes

 The long-running thriller was released in 1988 and directed and produced by Rakesh Roshan. It is a remake of an Australian miniseries, Return to Eden (1983), and tells the story of Rekha, lived by Aarti Verma, a wealthy widow who is almost killed by her lover and wants revenge. The film was a return venture for Rekha and was a critics as well as a commercial success. Aarti dictated fashion with her exotic costumes, created by costume designers Abu Jani, Sandeep Khosla and Leena Daru.

 

Bollywood movie Bobby and its costumes

In 1947 the Bollywood filmmakers began to dare, challenging the Indian censorship code that barred scenes of nudity, sex and even kissing between couples. The director of "Bobby," a 1973 film, Raj Kappor, is the forerunner of this revolution. The plot of the film tells the story of a couple Raj and Bobby. Raj, is the son of a rich man, and Bobby, is a young woman from a poor family, fighting against everyone who wants to make their love impossible, due to their social differences. The box-office success of that time is among the 25 most viewed Bollywood movies! And it's no wonder that Dimple Kapadia, who plays Bobby, has become the symbol of sexual liberation, look at her outfits! In the movie, Bobby is totally sexy and provocative, which makes it very different from the time where women were seen very demure and covered.

 

Bollywood movie Hare Rame Hare Krishna and its costumes

 The film debuted in 1971 and was a box office hit! The plot is based on the story of an Indian family in Montreal, the Jaiswals. Brother Prashant (Dev Anand) and sister Jasbir (Zeenat) go through their parents' divorce and end up separating, Prashant lives with their mother and Jasbir with their father. Jasbir believes her brother and mother are dead and that she will never see her brother again. She is mistreated by her stepmother and runs away from home. Prashant grows up, becomes a pilot and discovers that Jasbir is in Kathmandu with a group of hippies.

The film shows the decline of hippie culture, with the goal of bringing the anti-drug message and presenting problems related to westernization, such as divorce.

India was one of the main inspirations for the hippie aesthetic that emerged in the United States. The model Zeenat Aman, who plays Jasbir, premieres as an actress in the film and parades colorful robes, hoop earrings, flower collars and huge eyewear.
