4 MAIN TYPES OF SANDALS YOU NEED TO KNOW!

4 MAIN TYPES OF SANDALS YOU NEED TO KNOW!

May 02, 2018

Sandals can be defined as open shoes, with straps that wrap around the feet and expose most of them. There is a wide variety of types of sandals, including different materials, styles and models.

There are, for example, versions that are attached to the ankle with heels. The variations in the models of sandals also have to do with the cultural differences that determine how to dress in each country.

Even in times of globalization, there are still places where local traditions prevail. Thus, clothing and footwear are produced in a unique and unmistakable style - as in India, for example.

In this article, we will present 4 types of sandals and their main characteristics. Check it out!

  1. FLATFORMS

The flatforms are straight-based platforms with no level difference across the length of the footwear. There are other shoes with this type of platform, such as sneakers or oxfords. What characterize flatform saldals is that they are open, usually with two wide strips on the instep, and firmed with buckles at the heel.

The sandal, referred to as okobo - an old Japanese shoe - is a great tool for gaining a few inches of height and at the same time maintaining the comfort of the feet. In addition, it has a modern and casual look, which makes it perfect for casual occasions.

2. BIRKENSTOCK

The birkenstock is a sandal with an anatomical sole - that is: it follows the foot curves - and two wide straps with buckles. It was established in Germany at the end of the 19th century by Birkenstock shoemaker. It is currently used worldwide.

This sandal is very practical and comfortable. It has been reinvented several times over time and, therefore, the variation of models, colors and textures is huge. Still, this is a shoe to wear on a day-to-day basis, combined with light, casual clothing.

3. GLADIATOR SANDALS

The gladiator sandals also tell a story. This model of footwear, which initially had low soles and straps that encircled the feet and legs, was used by the military in the Roman Empire.

Strips remain the main feature of these sandals, but currently there are models with or without heels, as well as differences in the height of the straps - ranging from the ankle to the knees. The gladiator is practically a classic among women's shoes: now and again it returns to the streets and walkways.

4. FLATS

The flats are basically all kinds of sandals with low sole. These shoes are very fresh and feminine, perfect to wear in the summer. There is an immense variety flat models, from the most casual to the most sophisticated.

In India, for example, clothes and footwear are colorful and decorated — and the same goes for the flats. At Happee, you'll find some models of authentically Indian sandals: made of leather, stitched and embroidered by hand, with colored, golden and silver threads. They are beautiful shoes, comfortable, sophisticated and versatile.

Now that you already know the main types of women's sandals, just choose your favorite models and merge them into summer looks.
